North Pembrokeshire is a treasure trove of stunning landscapes, rich history, and outdoor adventures. Whether you’re a nature lover, history enthusiast, or seeking family-friendly activities, this region has something for everyone.
Here are ten must-see attractions and activities to enjoy during your visit:
-
Visit St David's Cathedral
Just a 10 minute drive from the cottage is the smallest city in the UK, St. David's. St David's Cathedral is a stunning example of medieval architecture and is neighbour to the magnificent ruins of the Bishop's Palace. Take some time to explore the beautiful grounds, admire the intricate stonework, and learn about the cathedral’s history which dates back to the 6th century. Just behind the Cathedral in the 14th century St Mary's Chapel, you'll find Mamgu's, a local treasure, which offers a wide selection of delicious homemade welsh cakes and a savoury menu that'll suit the whole family.
-
Explore the Pembrokeshire Coast Path
The Pembrokeshire Coast Path offers breath-taking views of the coastline and is perfect for anyone from hiking enthusiasts to those looking for a more casual stroll. Stretching over 186 miles, the trail winds through cliffs, beaches, and charming villages. Popular sections include the walk from St Davids to Abereiddy, where you can see the iconic Blue Lagoon. The stretch from Trefin to Porthgain is another favourite of ours - and you can always stop for a rest at The Sloop in Porthgain before heading home!
-
Relax at Whitesands Bay
Whitesands Bay is one of Pembrokeshire’s most popular beaches, renowned for its glorious stretch of sand with views over the rocky formation of Carn Llidi. Whitesands Beach was awarded Blue Flag status in 2022. Spend a day sunbathing, swimming, or trying your hand at water sports. Whitesands is widely considered one of the best beaches in the UK for surfing but is equally popular for SUPs, kayaking and swimming. The beach is manned by lifeguards through the Summer. There is a concrete ramp offering easy access for everyone to the beach, right from the carpark. Facilities include toilets and a café, so it's easy to spend a day on the beach in comfort.
-
Discover the Abereiddy Blue Lagoon
The Blue Lagoon in Abereiddy is a striking former slate quarry filled with vibrant blue water. It’s a popular spot for coasteering and cliff diving, attracting adventure seekers from all over. Even if you’re not planning to dive in, the dramatic scenery is worth a visit. Better yet, if you can, take in a particularly stunning stretch of coastal footpath on a walk from Abereiddy to Porthgain. Abereiddy is also on the coastal bus route. The coastal bus service follows the coast from Pencaer near Fishguard to St David's so is a fab way to get from one place to another if your legs are getting tired, or if you're exploring Pembrokeshire without a car.
-

No matter which trip you choose, a boat tour is a fantastic way to experience Pembrokeshire from a unique perspective.

Try a Water Sport
The clear waters of the Pembrokeshire coastline are perfect for trying paddle boarding, kayaking or surfing.
